On October 24, 2025, a review meeting for the revised edition of the "Technical Specification for Stainless Steel Structures" (hereinafter referred to as the "Specification"), edited by the School of Civil Engineering of Southeast University, was held in Changsha, Hunan Province. The meeting was chaired by Xu Houjun, Secretary-General of the Light Steel Structure Professional Committee of the China Association for Engineering Construction Standardization, and Zhang Chi, Executive Deputy Secretary-General of the China Association for Engineering Construction Standardization, attended and delivered a speech. The meeting formed a review expert group headed by Professor Zhou Xuhong, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, with Yu Yinquan and Wang Lijun, National Engineering Survey and Design Masters, as deputy heads.

The review panel heard a work report from Professor Shu Ganping of Southeast University, the chief editor of the "Code," reviewed the revised draft of the code and related technical documents, and conducted in-depth inquiries and discussions. The review committee unanimously concluded that the drafting team had conducted extensive fundamental and original experimental research and analysis, and that the revision of the "Code" is of great significance to the design, construction, and application of stainless steel structures, and is considered to be at an internationally advanced level.
From October 25th to 26th, 2025, the "4th National Stainless Steel Structure Technology Symposium," jointly hosted by Southeast University, Hunan University, Yuelushan Industrial Innovation Center, and the Light Steel Structure Committee of the China Association for Engineering Construction Standardization, was successfully held in Changsha Yuanda City. Academician Zhou Xuhong of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, National Engineering Survey and Design Master Wang Lijun, Secretary-General Xu Houjun of the Light Steel Structure Committee of the China Association for Engineering Construction Standardization, and more than 200 top experts from the academic and engineering fields of stainless steel structures across the country, as well as relevant R&D personnel and student representatives from the industry, attended the conference.

On the morning of the 25th, the opening ceremony of the 4th National Symposium on Stainless Steel Structure Technology was chaired by Professor Zhou Yun, Vice Dean of the School of Civil Engineering at Hunan University, with Professor Shu Ganping from Southeast University delivering the opening address. Professor Shu Ganping reviewed the previous three symposia on stainless steel structures, reiterated the original intention and development process of the conferences, and fully affirmed the significant progress made byChina in stainless steel structure technology.
Following the opening ceremony, the plenary session officially commenced. The plenary session consisted of two sessions, held on the mornings of the 25th and 26th, comprising a total of 18 reports. In addition, two parallel sessions and a postgraduate forum were held on the afternoon of the 25th. The reports were rich and diverse, featuring novel and cutting-edge topics, covering research on the mechanical properties, seismic resistance, fire resistance, and wind uplift resistance of stainless steel materials, components, joints, and structural systems; outstanding stainless steel engineering case studies; and demonstrations of innovative stainless steel products and advanced materials. The sessions included keynote speeches and presentations from several industry authorities, including Academician Zhou Xuhong, Master Wang Lijun, Professor Leroy Gardner of Imperial College London, Nancy Baddoo, expert from the International Molybdenum Association, Professor Shu Ganping, and Professor Wang Yuanqing, providing attendees with a a valuable learning experience of stainless steel structures.

On the afternoon of the 26th, the organizers arranged for the participating representatives to visit the Yuanda Stainless Steel Building Project: Yuanda City Garden No. 1 and Shangshuitang International Apartment Project, allowing them to experience the charm of stainless steel structures firsthand. With this, the conference concluded successfully.
It is reported that the National Symposium on Stainless Steel Structure Technology, initiated by Southeast University, the chief editor of the "Technical Specification for Stainless Steel Structures," is held every two years. The first, second, and third symposia were successfully held in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, in 2016, 2018, and 2023, respectively. The symposium provides a valuable platform for scientific and technological innovation talents in the field of stainless steel structures to share research results and cutting-edge technologies, understand industry development trends, and broaden research ideas, further promoting the application of stainless steel structures in my country. The steel structure research group of Southeast University was among the first in China to conduct systematic research on stainless steel structures, consistently keeping abreast of technological advancements and witnessing the continuous breakthroughs and leaps in the development of stainless steel structures from materials research to engineering applications. Looking to the future, the next National Symposium on Stainless Steel Structure Technology will be held in Hefei in 2027, continuing to write a new chapter in the development of stainless steel structure technology!
