On March 24, 2025, the kickoff meeting and implementation plan review for the National Key R&D Program project "Key Technologies for Large-Scale Experimental Simulation of Cross-Category Disaster Accidents in Long-Span Structures," led by Southeast University, was held in Nanjing in a hybrid online-offline format. The research team consists of Southeast University, China University of Mining and Technology, Tongji University, State Grid Jiangsu Electric Power Company, Tianjin Fire Research Institute of the Ministry of Emergency Management, Institute of Engineering Mechanics of China Earthquake Administration, CCCC Highway Planning and Design Institute Co., Ltd., China Merchants Chongqing Communications Technology Research & Design Institute Co., Ltd., Liyang Infrastructure Safety and Smart Technology Innovation Center of Southeast University, and East China Electric Power Design Institute Co., Ltd.
The project expert group includes Academician Yue Qingrui (Beijing University of Science and Technology), Academician Zeng Bin (Central Research Institute of Building and Construction, MCC Group; project tracking expert), Researcher Gao Mengtan (Institute of Geophysics, China Earthquake Administration; project tracking expert), Researcher Zhang Yufeng (JSTI Group), Researcher Ding Shijun (State Grid Electric Power Research Institute), Director Wu Hejun (Guangdong Fire and Rescue Corps), Professor Zhang Yuchun (Southwest Jiaotong University), and Deputy Director Hu Chuncai (Jiangsu Tianqin Accounting Firm). Over 40 participants attended, including Tian Wenjia (project manager from China 21st Century Agenda Management Center), Yin Guodong (Dean of Southeast University’s Scientific Research Institute), Liu Wei (Director of the High-Tech Office), Guo Tong (Dean of the School of Civil Engineering), Professor-level Senior Engineer Wang Renhui (project leader), and key members of the research team. The meetings were chaired by Liu Wei and Researcher Gao Mengtan, respectively.
Yin Guodong delivered a speech on behalf of the lead unit, introducing the university’s disciplinary strengths and research capabilities, and pledged organizational support for the project. Wang Renhui detailed the project’s objectives, tasks, and implementation plan. Follow-up reports were presented by Senior Engineer Xu Ming (Southeast University), Professor Chen Wei (China University of Mining and Technology), Senior Engineer Wang Bo (State Grid Jiangsu Electric Power Company), and Associate Researcher Yin Liang (Tianjin Fire Research Institute).

Experts affirmed the project’s alignment with national strategic needs, emphasizing its potential to advance large-scale experimental simulation technologies for cross-category disasters (e.g., earthquakes and fires in bridges, tunnels, and power grids) and enhance emergency response capabilities. After deliberation, the experts unanimously approved the implementation plan.
The convening of this meeting marks the official launch of the National Key R&D Program project "Key Technologies for Large-Scale Experimental Simulation of Cross-Category Disaster Accidents in Long-Span Structures," laying a solid foundation for the implementation and advancement of the project.
