On the morning of March 26, 2025, the opening ceremony of the 6th Southeast University-Royal Danish Academy Interdisciplinary International Study Camp was officially held at the School of Civil Engineering, Southeast University. Attendees included Wang Chen, Deputy Director of the Office of International Cooperation at Southeast University; Xu Jian, Vice Dean of the College of International Education; Cai Jianguo, Assistant Dean of the School of Civil Engineering; Professor Kim SeungDeog, Professor Gao Kang from the School of Civil Engineering; Professor Daniel S-H Lee from the Royal Danish Academy; as well as faculty and student representatives from both institutions, totaling over fifty participants. Professor Cai Jianguo from the School of Civil Engineering presided over the ceremony.

In his opening address, Deputy Director Wang Chen elaborated on Southeast University's international development strategy and reviewed its collaborative achievements with leading overseas institutions. He noted that this year's study camp, themed "Building Energy Simulation," aligns closely with the global carbon neutrality strategic framework. The initiative will effectively drive innovative applications of green technologies in the integrated field of civil engineering and architectural design, while establishing practical paradigms for whole-life-cycle carbon emission assessment systems to facilitate low-carbon urban development.

Professor Daniel S-H LEE from the Royal Danish Academy reviewed the previous five editions of the international study camp and spoke highly of the cooperative achievements between both institutions over the past decade. He emphasized that the study camp has become a vital academic bridge between China and Denmark, significantly enhancing cultural exchanges between the two nations while effectively promoting interdisciplinary collaboration mechanisms in cutting-edge research fields.

Following this, Vice Dean Xu Jian of the College of International Education delivered a speech. She affirmed the study camp's significant role in cultivating innovative global talents and provided a comprehensive introduction to Southeast University's international student programs from multiple perspectives, including disciplinary strengths, talent development, and cultural environment. Dean Xu warmly welcomed students from around the world to pursue their academic aspirations at Southeast University.

Danish student representative Julia Ristola expressed in her speech that she looks forward to mastering 3D digital building design technologies and sustainable environmental simulation analysis methods through the study camp.

Following the opening ceremony, the Danish students visited the Tang Zhongying Seismic Resistance and Disaster Prevention Experimental Platform, with a focused examination of the application of Hybrid Simulation technology in structural seismic research, as well as the real-time monitoring system of distributed sensor networks in the Smart Construction Laboratory.

It is reported that since its establishment in 2016, the study camp has been successfully held five times in locations including Nanjing, China; the Gobi Desert; and Copenhagen, Denmark. It has developed distinctive research modules covering topics such as energy system topology optimization and spectral selectivity enhancement for solar energy collection, cultivating over 600 multinational interdisciplinary talents to date.

With a focus on low-carbon and energy-efficient concepts, this year's study camp emphasizes the deep integration of civil engineering and architectural design. It aims to enhance students' practical capabilities in building energy utilization and contribute to the development of sustainable architecture.
