Professor Dan M. Frangopol, Honorary Professor at our university, has been elected as a member of the U.S. National Academy of Engineering (NAE)

On February 11, local time, the U.S. National Academy of Engineering (NAE) announced its newly elected members for 2025. Professor Dan M. Frangopol was elected as a member of the prestigious academy.

Professor Frangopol holds the Fazlur Rahman Khan Endowed Chair of Structural Engineering and Architecture at Lehigh University. He is a Foreign Member of the Academia Europaea and has received numerous internationally renowned honors, including ASCE Distinguished Member, the Nathan M. Newmark Medal, and the T.Y. Lin Award. He is the founding editor-in-chief of the SCI-indexed journal Structure and Infrastructure Engineering, and the founding president of both the International Association for Bridge Maintenance and Safety (IABMAS) and the International Association for Life-Cycle Civil Engineering (IALCCE).

A globally recognized expert in structural reliability, Professor Frangopol is widely regarded as a pioneer in life-cycle engineering and related research, with an extensive body of highly influential academic work.

Since 2011, Professor Frangopol has served as an Honorary Professor at Southeast University, maintaining a long-standing and in-depth collaborative relationship with our institution. His contributions have greatly promoted academic exchange and cooperation between Southeast University and Lehigh University, providing invaluable guidance and support for the development of our civil engineering discipline.
