On December 30, 2024, the Department of Intelligent Construction and Operation and Maintenance of the School of Civil Engineering of Southeast University was approved to be established. As the main unit, it will be fully responsible for the construction of related majors and disciplines of intelligent construction. The establishment of the Department of Intelligent Construction and Operation and Maintenance aims to aim at the development of new productivity in the civil engineering industry, meet the urgent needs of intelligent upgrading of national infrastructure, housing construction and other construction and operation and maintenance, provide better teaching services, practice platforms and academic support for the undergraduate major of intelligent construction and intelligent construction and operation and maintenance disciplines, and promote school-enterprise cooperation and the development of intelligent construction industry. The establishment of this department marks a new and important step in the field of intelligent construction of Southeast University.
In 2019, it was approved by the National Development and Reform Commission to build the "National and Local Joint Engineering Research Center for Intelligent Construction and Operation and Maintenance", and in 2020, it was approved to set up an undergraduate major in intelligent construction and began to enroll, and in 2022, it independently set up a secondary discipline of intelligent construction and operation and maintenance, and has formed a training system for undergraduate, master, and doctoral degrees related to intelligent construction. In the 2024 "Ranking of Chinese Universities by Subject", Southeast University ranked second in the country in terms of intelligent construction.
