Dean Guo Tong Leads University Delegation on Official Visit to Singapore

To further expand international cooperation in the School of Civil Engineering and deepen existing collaborative projects, Dean Guo Tong, Academician Su Zhiqiang, Vice Deans Huang Zhen and Yao Yiming visited Singapore from March 19th to 23rd. During the visit, they held cooperative discussions with the National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University, Arup, and China Construction (South Pacific) Development Co., Ltd.

On the 20th, the delegation visited the National University of Singapore, where they met with Richard Liew, the Dean of the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, along with Deputy Deans Pang Sze Dai, Poh Leong Hien, Low Ying Min, and other members. Both parties presented an overview of their respective colleges and recent developments, reviewed the collaborative achievements since signing the 3+1+1 student joint training agreement in 2020, discussed prospects for cooperation in scientific research, talent cultivation, and faculty exchange, and engaged in detailed discussions on implementing the cooperation framework memorandum signed by the two schools in 2023. During the visit, Dean Guo Tong introduced the basic situation and talent recruitment policies of Southeast University to graduate students and postdoctoral fellows at the university, visited students participating in joint training programs with our college, and engaged in in-depth discussions with them.

On the morning of the 21st, the delegation visited the headquarters of ARUP in Singapore and engaged in discussions with our college alumni such as Wu Hao and Liu Mi. They gained insights into the basic profile, corporate culture, significant projects, and cutting-edge directions of ARUP Singapore. Discussions also delved into technical breakthroughs, scientific research collaboration, and joint talent development initiatives.

On the afternoon of the 21st, the delegation held discussions with Mr. Shi Huiqing, Assistant General Manager, Ms. Liang Lulu, Director of Human Resources and Administration, and Mr. Zhang Ti, Senior Manager of Enterprise Planning Department at China Construction (NanYang) Development Co., Ltd. Both parties introduced their respective situations and discussed topics including local construction industry development, student internships, further education and employment, as well as research cooperation in the fields of construction industrialization and intelligent construction.

On the morning of the 22nd, the delegation visited Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, where they met with Professor Chu Jian, the Dean of the College of Civil and Environmental Engineering, along with Vice Deans Cao Bin, Yang Enhua, and Professor Yi Yaolin, an alum. Both parties introduced their respective colleges' talent cultivation, faculty composition, scientific research, and distinctive directions. They engaged in in-depth discussions regarding the 3+1+1 student joint training agreement signed in 2023 and the selection of the first batch of students. They also explored potential collaborations in scientific research and joint training for master's and doctoral students. In the afternoon, Dean Guo Tong introduced the basic situation of Southeast University and its talent introduction policies to graduate students and postdoctoral researchers, engaging in insightful discussions with them.
