On June 17th, the final of the CCCC-GHD Cup 2023 World University Bridge Design Competition, co-hosted by the China Highway and Transportation Society and CCCC Highway Consultants Co., Ltd., was grandly held at the China Optics Valley Convention and Exhibition Center in Wuhan. After intense competition among domestic and foreign university teams and multiple rounds of review by the competition organizing committee, our institute won 4 awards. Among them, the work Peak Forest Garden co-operated by Southeast University and Nanjing Forestry University entered the final, and 5 team members worked together to complete the presentation and defense. Finally, it ranked second in total score and won the first prize, achieving the best historical result of our institute in this competition. The final judges were composed of national engineering survey and design masters, as well as professors from Tsinghua University, Tongji University, and Wuhan University of Technology. The works Painted Halberd, Trifoliate Bridge, and Triumphal Arch won the Excellent Prize. Professor Zhang Wenming, assistant to the dean of our institute, won the Excellent Instructor Award, and Southeast University was awarded the Excellent Organization Award (only 6 nationwide).

The 2023 World University Bridge Design Competition, as an important part of the World Transport Congress (WTC), received a wide participation from domestic and international universities and students, with a total of 163 entries. The competition aimed to cultivate students' innovative design awareness, comprehensive design capabilities, teamwork spirit, and practical engineering skills. It also sought to attract and encourage students to actively participate in extracurricular scientific and technological practice activities, discover and cultivate more bridge design professionals, and provide more talent reserves for the progress of global bridge construction. The competition has been successfully held for five sessions, receiving over 1000 entries and involving more than 5000 students from nearly 20 countries and regions.
