Recently, the editorial board of the international premier journal in the field of civil engineering, “Engineering Structures,” conducted a new round of editorial board selection, and associate professor Gao Kang from the Department of Building Engineering of SCE successfully became a young editorial board member. It is reported that this round of selection includes nearly 20 young talents in the field of civil engineering from different countries worldwide, encouraging and supporting their positive contributions to civil structural engineering.

“Engineering Structures” is an SCI international journal under Elsevier, a renowned journal in the field of structural engineering. It was founded in 1978, listed in JCR-Q1, and is classified as Zone 2 in the Chinese Academy of Sciences Engineering and Technology category, with the latest impact factor of 4.471.
Gao Kang, Ph.D., associate professor, and master's supervisor, joined the Department of Building Engineering at the School of Civil Engineering at Southeast University through the “Green Channel” for overseas talent introduction in 2020. His research interests include machine learning-based structural analysis, design, and optimization; intelligent operation and maintenance of structures; data-driven uncertainty assessment in structures; and dynamic and stability analysis of 3D printed novel structures. His research results have been published in over 30 papers in top international journals such as “Engineering Structures,” “Thin-Walled Structures,” “Aerospace Science and Technology,” “Composite Structures,” Computer Methods in Applied Mechanics and Engineering,” with 18 papers indexed in JCR-Q1 and 11 papers having an impact factor exceeding 4.0. Additionally, he has one highly cited paper in ESI, with 508 citations on Google Scholar, and an h-index of 12. Dr. Gao holds five authorized patents as the first author. His papers have been widely recognized and positively evaluated by authoritative scholars worldwide, including the likes of Professor J.N. Reddy, a member of the U.S. National Academy of Engineering and a renowned mechanician, Professor S. Kitipornchai, a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Engineering and an expert in structural engineering and applied mechanics, and Professor H. Nguyen-Xuan, a globally highly cited scholar in the field of composite materials mechanics.
